# Faucet

> Test STT for building on the Somnia testnets, from the faucet in the Somnia Explorer. Mainnet has no faucet.

The faucet sends test STT, the Somnia testnets' native currency, so you can pay for gas while you build. It lives in the Somnia Explorer, one for each testnet:

| Testnet | Chain ID | Faucet |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Global testnet | `50312` | [explorer.testnet.somnia.network/faucet](https://explorer.testnet.somnia.network/faucet) |
| Tokyo testnet | `50383` | [explorer.testnet.somnia.network/tokyo/faucet](https://explorer.testnet.somnia.network/tokyo/faucet) |

Mainnet has no faucet: SOMI is bought or bridged, and the explorer's mainnet `/faucet` sends you on to the testnet one.

## How it works

1. Open the faucet for the testnet you are building on and paste your address.
2. The faucet sends 1 STT to any address holding less than 1 STT.
3. One request per address an hour, and five from the same connection. Ask again later for more.

STT has no value off the testnets. For the testnets' chain IDs, RPCs and explorers, see [Network info](/blockchain/network-info); to add a testnet to your wallet, see [Connect a wallet](/blockchain/connect-a-wallet).

## From a script

The faucet is a form in the explorer, meant for a person. For funds in a script or a coding agent's flow, the Markets SDK docs explain [how to get testnet funds](/markets/somnia-markets/typescript/how-to/get-testnet-funds).
